If the dentist finds that this procedure by itself is not providing satisfactory results, then he may go for bonding where a composite resin is used to fix and cover up cavities, fractures, chips etc wherever present.

As dental re-contouring is not a painful procedure, there is no need for numbing the region. All it will take for the procedure to be over is one or appointments with your cosmetic dentist.

Dental recontouring can usually be done without anesthetic as it doesn't affect the living pulp of the tooth. The treatment can be carried out in one or two visits to a cosmetic dentist.
